SERCO is South Africa’s top manufacturer of reefer trailers. SERCO had previously been using a 2D CAD system which simply could not keep up with advancing production methodologies. SERCO chose CATIA as a 3D solution to replace their 2D CAD system because it “proved to be the most stable software” and could “handle large assemblies” which was a necessary requirement for them. SERCO also plans to use 3DVIA Composer to compile assembly and maintenance documentation for staff training. SERCO uses CATIA together with Excel, thanks to CATIA Knowledgeware, to drive model iterations by numerical dimensions. CATIA has also lead to greater production levels because of its direct machining program capability.
